Agriculture

Depending on available farmland and soil quality, Pacific Island agriculture ranges from subsistence farming (self-sufficiency in food or small plots for local market gardening) to intensive, high-yield systems to above-ground growing (i.e., aquaponics and hydroponics). Because ecosystems are so fragile, environmentally friendly methods are encouraged.
