Aquaculture

Plant and animal aquaculture is practised in rivers and ponds and by the sea. It is designed to limit harvesting of marine species endangered by overfishing while still meeting the communities’ protein needs. This is a growing industry in the Pacific, in collaboration with local communities and can be adapted to traditional farming methods in rural areas.
