The greenhouse effect is a natural phenomenon that holds heat at the surface of our planet. However, human (or anthropogenic) activities cause greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2), methane, chlorofluorocarbon that amplify this natural phenomenon and lead to an increase in the temperature of our planet’ surface. That increase has led to a more global change in climate with a wide range of consequences such as changes in the frequency or intensity of climate events (tropical cyclones, droughts) that sometimes dramatically impact the ecosystems of the Pacific Islands and the communities whose survival depends on them.

While the Pacific region produces only 0.03% of global greenhouse gas emissions, reducing this phenomenon remains the only solution for combating global warming.
